Senior Games

We are delighted to announce Senior games training will commence next Tuesday night 21st of May at Leslie Dixons Farm, Clogh with trainer Ted Creed. Ted has been involved in MGA and PC games for the past number of years in Ireland and the UK. He, his wife and his children have been heavily involved in the Island PC for many years, we welcome him and wish him well as the journey begins in preparation for the RDS qualifiers that starts with Gorey show on the 15th June.

Please join me in giving Ted a very big friendly welcome.

Charity Fun Jump Cross

THE ISLAND HUNT PONY CLUB

Charity Fun Jump Cross Day for Easter. Taking place on April 28th at 2pm open to all beginners, newcomers, members with new ponies. Day will be filled with mounted activities such as showjumping and cross country for lead rein, xpoles, mini (40cms) Midi (50cms) Maxi(60/70cms). There will also be unmounted fun activities and games with prizes for all. €15pp Entries now open on the website. Entries close 24th April at 10pm.

All proceeds will be be donated to St.Gabriel’s Ward, Wexford general Hospital.

Taking place at The Quarry, Tubberneering, Gorey, Co.Wexford Y25V6K2 by kind permission of the Adams Family.

This day is guaranteed to be fun for all, help from parents on the day would be much appreciated. These events would not be possible to do without everyone pulling together for our members to have the best fun possible. Any queries please contact the PC Phone.

Dressage Champs Open

Entries now open for Dressage Championships

National Dressage Day 2019 will be held in Spruce Lodge, Redcross, Co. Wicklow on Saturday 4th of May.

  1. Under 10 & U12 -‘warm-up’ test – South Munster Introduction to Dressage Test C (2012) (40m arena)
  2. Under 10 & U12 – Competition test – Pre Novice IPC dressage test 2019 (40m arena)
  3. Junior – ‘warm-up’ test – Junior BE 95 (2012) (40m arena)
  4. Junior – Competition test – Dressage Ireland test P8 (2012) (60m arena)
  5. Intermediate – ‘warm-up’ test BE 96 (2016) (40m arena)
  6. Intermediate – Competition test – IPC Novice Dressage Test (2014) (60m arena)
  7. Open/SA – ‘warm-up’ test – BE 112 (2012) (40m arena)
  8. Open/SA – Competition test – IPC Novice Dressage Test (2014) (60m arena)
  9. Open to all –  Dressage Ireland Elementary test DI E55 (60m arena)
  10. Team competition U10/12, Junior, Inter or Open/SA competition test as above

In addition: A mixed team competition, draw for teams of 3 or 4 on the morning of the competition. Results of best 3 Competition tests will count towards the team score. NB no extra tests need to be ridden or entry fee paid. 
We are including the DI Elementary test 55 for those interested; this competition is open to all!

Riders can and should if possible ride two tests, one ‘warm up’ and one Competition test. Tests are on IPC website. 
Members may compete in two categories on the same or different pony, ie U10/U12/Junior/Intermediate/Open but must ride H/C in one category; this MUST be declared on the entry form or both tests will be counted as H/C.

Prizes will be awarded for the Competition classes 2, 4, 6, 8 and 9: for Under 10 & 12 separately if sufficient entries (Pre Novice IPC Dressage Test 2019), Junior (DI Test P8), Intermediate (IPC Novice Dressage Test 2014), Open/Senior Associate (IPC Novice Dressage Test 2014), ‘Open to all’ Dressage Ireland E55. 
Ordinary rosettes for the ‘warm up’ classes for Under 10 & 12 (separately if sufficient entries), Junior, Intermediate and Open/SA. NB the ‘warm-up’ tests may be called as riders may be under pressure to remember two tests.

Irish Pony Club Pure Dressage rules and tack apply EXCEPT that whips are allowed in Under 12 competitions.

Entry fees: €20 first test, €15 second test ridden by the same combination of rider and pony/horse.

Hunter Trial Champs

Entries are now open through our Its Plain Sailing page for the Mackey Irish Pony Club Hunter Trial Championships, which will take place on Saturday 27th April 2019 in Moorefield Kennels, Moorefield, Old Ross, Co. Wexford, Y35 AY72.

Our closing date for entries is Monday 15th April 2019 at 11pm. Please enter individually to the class you wish to enter for e.g.: You wish to do Junior Pairs enter into that class even if you do not have another member in mind. If you wish to be in a team of 3 enter into that class. If you wish to go as an individual enter Junior Individual. Please text PC phone with names of of pairs that you wish to be paired with and if you have ridden together already. Please also read the rules below in relation to ages and tests required. *No refunds will be made after the programme goes to print.  All entrants must be registered members of the Irish Pony Club for 2019 and must hold a valid membership card.

Camping is NOT allowed at the venue. 

Provisional course inspection and start times will be published as soon as they become available.

The 2019 Mackey Hunter Trial Championships will include the following classes:

  • Teams of Three
  • Senior Pairs
  • Senior Singles
  • Hunting Horn

This will be an action packed day so don’t forget to submit your entry.

Cross-Country Training Update

In preparation for the Pony Club Hunter Trial Championships on April 27th at the Kennels, we are providing training with, not one, but two instructors at two different locations.
